Credit Bureau Indonesia (CBI) successfully hosted the CBI Connect 2024 event, during which CBI expressed its appreciation to its stakeholders and key members for their loyalty and trust in the company’s products and solutions.

The “Building Strength through Collaboration in the Financial Services Industry Post-Election” event aimed to strengthen relationships with key members and establish ongoing cooperation with CBI.

Agus Subekti, President and Director of CBI opened the event with a warm welcome. He stated, “We organized CBI Connect as a platform for financial services industry players— including banks, finance companies, and P2P lending platforms— to share information and discuss the Financial Services Industry Outlook Post-2024 Election. We chose this theme because future economic policies will significantly impact the financial services industry.”

Panel Discussion: Dissecting the Financial Services Industry Outlook Post-Election

One of the event’s main attractions was the panel discussion on the “Financial Services Industry Outlook Post-Election.” The panel featured leaders from Indonesia’s financial industry, including Aviliani, Head of Research and Development at the National Bank Association (Perbanas); Suwandi Wiratno, Chairman of the Indonesian Financial Services Association (APPI); Entjik S. Djafar, Chairman of the Indonesian Fintech Funding Association (AFPI); Andry Asmoro, Chief Economist at Bank Mandiri; and Anton K. Adiwibowo, Director of Business & Services at CBI.

During the panel, Aviliani from Perbanas noted, “Post-election economic growth reached 5.1%, which indicates that there is still demand for credit even in the post-election period. However, the decline in employment absorption challenges the government to ensure that investment or credit can effectively absorb labor.”

Suwandi Wiratno of APPI remarked, “The financing industry has collaborated with information technology service providers to utilize data such as SLIK, credit scoring, asset recording, and other platforms. This collaboration enables the industry to maintain good financing quality and enhance company profitability. We remain optimistic about continued growth amidst global economic uncertainty, positioning ourselves as a trusted financial services industry.”

Andry Asmoro of Bank Mandiri shared, “Indonesia’s financial sector faces growing challenges, particularly with numerous black swan events. We must anticipate all risks through collaboration between regulators and business players, innovation, and the availability of comprehensive data. Strengthening financial sector infrastructure in terms of data, human resources, and capital will make the sector more resilient and efficient, contributing to Indonesia’s development.”

Entjik S. Djafar of AFPI expressed, “The fintech P2P lending industry has demonstrated resilience and innovation over the past few years. With increasingly mature regulations and growing public trust in financial technology, we are confident that this sector will continue to expand and contribute significantly to financial inclusion in Indonesia. We also hope for stronger synergy between industry players and the government to create a conducive ecosystem for the industry’s growth.”

Anton K. Adiwibowo of CBI added, “Post-election, political stability plays a vital role in boosting economic growth, particularly through fostering healthy credit growth. Additionally, regulatory support to strengthen the role of credit bureaus as supporters of the financial services industry is crucial for promoting sustainable financial inclusion. At CBI, we are committed to supporting regulators by providing innovative solutions that help financial institutions maintain and enhance credit quality, making them resilient in facing the increasingly dynamic business world.”

Beyond the informative discussions, the event also served as an essential moment for CBI to introduce its new product, the CBI Skip Tracing Report. This solution is designed to help CBI members manage their most valuable assets—their customers.

CBI Connect 2024: A Gathering of Industry Leaders

More than 100 leaders representing prominent financial institutions that are critical members of the CBI attended CBI Connect 2024. Attendees highly praised the event, providing feedback such as, “The panel discussions were highly informative and enhanced our understanding,” “The solutions presented were very beneficial in addressing our business pain points,” and “This event should be held regularly as it greatly aids in strategy development and provides relevant insights.” These are just a few of the many positive responses collected from a survey conducted during the event.

More Than Just an Annual Event: Ushering in a New Era for the Financial Services Industry

CBI Connect 2024 was more than just an appreciation event for CBI members; it was also a strategic step by CBI in welcoming a new era in the financial services industry post-election. This initiative includes growing alongside all of its valued members. By continually strengthening collaboration with regulators and all stakeholders, CBI is ready to support financial industry players in facing the challenges and opportunities that exist now and in the future.
