Depok, 30 January 2026. SME Bureau from Credit Bureau Indonesia (CBI) collaborated with the UKM Center of FEB UI in a Bedah UKM and UMKM Workshop. The event was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Industry and the Ministry of Agriculture, academics, financial institutions, and UMKM business owners from various sectors. A total of 50 selected UMKM joined the program as they prepare to grow and move to the next level.

During the discussion session, Tiffany Octaviana, Head of Business at SME Bureau CBI, shared that the main challenge for UMKM in getting financing is not because their businesses are not good enough, but because they do not have strong proof that financial institutions can assess.

Many UMKM are rejected not because their products are not good, but because they do not have a complete business profile, clear financial records, a credit track record, and proper business legality, she explained.

She highlighted several common pain points, such as having no business credit history, limited bookkeeping, incomplete legality, not having a business bank account, and inconsistent income. These issues make it difficult for banks and investors to evaluate UMKM objectively.

As a solution, SME Bureau CBI encourages UMKM to build a stronger business profile and credit reputation in a complete way. This is not only about having a PT or CV, but also about recording transactions, showing business performance, and using alternative data such as QRIS and e commerce transactions. With this approach, UMKM can be assessed more fully and can improve their chances of getting sustainable financing.

Having a PT or CV is an important foundation, but what matters too is how UMKM build their business track record and credit reputation. With a strong business profile, UMKM can attract investors more easily, gain trust from partners, and enter bigger business ecosystems, including restaurants and corporate partners, she added.

The discussion received a very positive response from participants. Many UMKM owners said their biggest challenge has been that their business profile is not ready for formal financing, even though they have been running their business for a long time.

One UMK Center FEB UI partner, the owner of Lemon Press, also shared their experience. The beverage business has joined various bazaars, including in Malaysia, and said that business legality, better record keeping, and access to financing are key factors to scale up and expand to new markets.

Through this event, SME Bureau CBI reaffirmed its commitment to support UMKM in building business profiles and credit reputations as the foundation for sustainable financing. The program aims to help more UMKM become ready for financing, more competitive, and able to grow sustainably in both national and global markets.
